Wayne Theibaud Oil Pastel Drawing

This is my oil pastel drawing. My intention with this drawing was to really capture the set up I was looking at. I feel I accomplished this task. This drawing focused on really mixing the the colors shown on the objects and bringing them out, as well as capturing reflection. The most difficult part of this was making sure the placement and shapes were the same as what I was copying from life. I accomplished this by really focusing and measuring out the objects. If I could re-do this project, I think I would focus on making my shapes more defined. i think the best thing about my drawing is the mixing of color on my lipstick.

EYE See You

This picture of eyes were of mine. It was just a random cold day and the lighting was perfect for a selfie. I love when i can capture my eyes when they are bursting with blue color or as big and bold as possible. It was also a good day for my makeup and just an all around good day.

Carry Out Charcoal Drawing

This is my charcoal carry out container drawing. My intention with this project was to create a look a like of the container that I looking at. I eel i did a decent job creating it. This project was about trying to make this look as real as we could. Instead of having really definite black lines, we had to try and blend it in. the most difficult thing about this was starting off. trying to find my starting points was difficult for. I accomplished by really taking in everything and re-working the shading. If i could redo this, I would probably try to focus a little more on the chopsticks. i think the best part about this are my shadows.

Charcoal Pumpkin Drawing

This is my charcoal pumpkin drawing. My intention with this drawing was to really capture the set up I was looking at. I feel i accomplished them myself. This drawing focused on bringing out the lighted areas and the shadows. The most difficult part of this was making sure the size of the pumpkins where the same way paper. I accomplished this by really focusing and measuring things out. I really learned a lot about shadows and pulling out light. If i could re-do this project, i think i would focus on making less lines to the drawing and make it more the shapes. i think the best thing about my drawing are my shadows.

Artist Statement

This is my art piece. My goal of this piece was to recreate, in drawing, the paper sculpture I had made. I accomplished this goal by study the drawing. I was surprised to find how much detail went in to just drawing letters. My drawing focuses much on shading. The most difficult part of this for me was getting the right placement of the letters and their angles. i faced this difficulty being studying the sculpture as best as possible. Something that I have learned that i can bring to my next drawing is that studying a piece and using your brain is really important. An artist in the class i learned from is Josh Robinson. His shading in his piece was very nicely done and i learned from him how to shade my drawing. If had on do over, I think I would try to focus a little bit more and really try to see the piece how it is. I feel the best thing avout my piece is my shading. I enjoyed this project and hope to improve from here.

Wayne Thiebaud

This is my informative and creative page on Wayne Thiebaud. He inspired me because of wonderful use of color. The many bright colors and combining of colors are so intriguing to me. I would love to learn to blend colors like him and so much more.
